Stewardship

St. Matthew's Stewardship Pledge Campaign 2016 & Ministry and Volunteer Opportunities

“The Point is this:  the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly,
and the one the sows abundantly will reap abundantly.” 2 Corinthians 9:6

The point is this: we will reap abundantly if we do the abundant work.  A steward is someone entrusted with property that belongs to another. Because everything we have is a gift from God, we are called to offer a portion of what we have received back to the fulfilling of God’s purposes.

Project Resource diocese Workshop 2016

Collectively, we get the point: St Matthew’s has a mission grounded in Christ. It impacts us as individuals, it impacts our community, and it impacts the wider world. To maintain our worthy causes we ask you to make them your own. Become a steward by giving your time, expressing your talents, and pledging your treasure. By this you will be continuing God’s mission, a mission of joy and abundance!

Our parish stands at an exciting and pivotal crossroad in the life of our parish, as we welcomed our new rector, Rev. Barbara Briggs in September 2015. We will reap from our labor and begin a new chapter of parish history. Won’t you take this opportunity to share what has been entrusted to you? Each of us can be part of something bigger than ourselves, even if this is your first year to make a pledge.

We humbly ask for your participation in supporting our church, our diocese and our missions, which include the ability to immediately respond to those in need.

The point is this: we are all part of a very special parish family that cares for one another.  We are the foundation from which we build.  Your treasure supports a projected budget for 2015, outlined on the back of this letter. Our current needs are over $8,500 per week

If you have not yet pledged, we ask you to look within, make a commitment to God, and reap abundantly the reward of participating fully in the Christian community.  New pledges are the key to our continued growth. If you pledge already, we kindly ask for a 3% increase. Even an increase of as little as the price of a cup of coffee -- just $5 per week -- could be an immense benefit.  All pledges are confidential and are greatly appreciated no matter the size.

The Bible teaches us that percentage giving is considered the benchmark when making your pledge decision; a personal decision between you and God.  Please mail the enclosed pledge card or leave it in the wooden box hanging in the Narthex, and join us for Stewardship Sunday on November 16th, 2015.

We are very grateful for your prayerful consideration.

May God bless you and St. Matthew’s,

Yours in Christ, The Stewardship Committee
